Abarth 595 a racing history
The Abarth company has a long and, above all, exciting tradition. Where most of it has taken place on or near the race track. In 1949 the company was founded in Bologna. From the beginning, vehicles with small displacement were made suitable for racing.
By the great successes in racing Fiat decided to buy the company Abarth in 1971. The general development in racing to use ever more powerful and larger engines, let the company Abarth the next few years not quite so successful. And thus fewer and fewer vehicles were conceived. Later the company was merged with the racing division of Lancia.
Only with the new edition of the Fiat 500 the mark Abarth could come back again successfully into the series automobile production. Since then, tuned Abarth 595s based on the Fiat 500 have been produced and are in demand worldwide. Incidentally, the scorpion on the emblem of the Abarth logo is a reference to the star sign of the founder Carlo Abarth.
